Sunon Redefined the Collaborative Space Design to Explore the Office Space with Fluidity and Openness
The top domestic comprehensive accounting firm, Tianjian Accounting Firm was established in December 1983. It is a nationwide large-scale professional accounting intermediary service organization with A+H share audit qualifications, founded by a group of senior registered accountants in China. With the continuous development of their own business needs, Tianjian Accounting Firm has moved to the Qianjiang Century City Runao Office Area for its brand-new headquarters.
Tianjian, an accounting firm, recognizes that talent is the cornerstone of their business. To foster a sense of belonging and happiness among employees, they are enhancing office conditions through innovative upgrades. Collaborating with Sunon Furniture, they have comprehensively transformed their office environment, prioritizing people-centric collaborative design for improved work efficiency and the creation of a more dynamic and open workspace.
Creating a People-centric and Healthy Office Space
In 2022, Tianjian Accounting Firm relocated part of its office space to the Qianjiang Century City CBD in Hangzhou, which would become their new headquarters. This move not only expanded the office area but also introduced modern facilities and intelligent management systems, elevating and optimizing the workspace to meet higher specifications and standards. With its superior geographical location and spatial grade, Tianjian aims to achieve heightened aesthetic standards for their overall office environment.
An office space that prioritizes employees' needs encompasses abundant natural light and captivating outdoor views. Tianjian's office features expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe the workspace in a panorama of urban scenery. This integration allows all employees to enjoy the benefits of outdoor vistas and natural light, positively impacting their health and well-being. The warm and inviting interior decor, complemented by lush greenery, fosters relaxation and stress relief, creating a harmonious environment that serves not only as a workplace but also as a sanctuary for mental rejuvenation.
Shared Spaces: Cultivating a Welcoming and Flexible Community Experience
Sunon noticed that in addition to Tianjian Accounting Firm, many accounting firms face a common challenge. Apart from specific times, their offices often remain vacant. This situation not only leads to increased operational costs but also hinders essential communication and interaction among employees and between employees and leaders.
As the digitalization process accelerates, information is no longer confined to a select few individuals or departments. Instead, it is accessible to and shared by everyone. In decentralized workspaces, effective communication and interaction become paramount. Socialization becomes a means for individuals to exhibit their subjective initiative, fostering collaboration, and mutual assistance.
Shared space plays a pivotal role in this spatial upgrade. According to Sunon, precision and formality are not paramount in shared spaces. Instead, the focus should be on fostering "communication" and "teamwork." Furniture selection aims to create an appealing and cozy atmosphere, seamlessly blending with the surroundings to cultivate a warm and flexible sense of community.
Open bars, phone booths, reading corners, and nursing rooms provide avenues for employees to unwind and engage in relaxed and comfortable communication. They encourage diverse activities and promote a healthy lifestyle. The choice of furniture materials and colors significantly impacts the ambiance of the space. Through fabric and surface colors, designers from Sunon maintain a welcoming and intimate environment. The design prioritizes the emotional needs at a deeper level, fostering conditions for a "sustainable life" and offering a distinct experience from the work area, ultimately cultivating a collaborative, healthy, proactive, and joyful team atmosphere.
Executive and meeting spaces: Creating effective collaboration
Combining Tianjian's office model with operational requirements, Sunon ventured into bold experiments and recommendations for executive and meeting spaces. The goal was to simplify executive areas while diversifying meeting spaces. While the leader's office gained essential reception and lounge areas, other executive spaces followed a consistent configuration, ensuring coherence and eliminating disparities.
Sunon emphasized that, besides facilitating interpersonal interactions, meeting spaces should cater to various forms of communication—a critical factor in revamping Tianjian's workplace. Meetings serve as platforms for timely feedback, enabling teams to operate harmoniously and efficiently. Hence, formal meeting room design held significant importance. Conversely, informal and brief meetings no longer required expansive conference rooms to avoid resource wastage. This approach maximizes efficiency and establishes an effective collaboration mechanism.
As the pandemic subsides, people return to offices seeking designs that transcend physical constraints and foster psychological bonds among team members. Sunon's design team actively explores collaborative office scenarios, striving to create composite workspaces that align with both organizational and employee needs.
