In collaboration with Sunon, the library combines smart technology, user-centric design, and sustainable features to create a dynamic, welcoming space for everyone. This vibrant public hub encourages visitors to engage with knowledge, offering a place to learn, relax, and connect at the heart of the city.
01 Human-Centered: A Peaceful Zone for Reading
The lounge area at Wenling Library features an island-inspired design, drawing from the city’s coastal heritage. Modular sofas are arranged to create a relaxing, island-like space where visitors can unwind and enjoy their surroundings. The use of soft, durable fabrics that are both water- and stain-resistant ensures the area remains fresh and inviting. Glass and natural wood elements are incorporated throughout the space to enhance its openness and flow. Natural light fills the room, especially at noon, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere. Comfortable seating and well-placed lighting ensure a pleasant experience. The lighting is positioned at a 60° angle, with adjustable desk lamps providing focused, distraction-free light for reading or relaxation.
02 Childlike Wonder: Encouraging Exploration and Interaction
The children’s reading area at Wenling Library is a vibrant space specially crafted to spark curiosity and foster learning. Custom bookshelves in warm and natural wood tones create a warm and inviting environment. The layout emphasizes flexibility, allowing the space to accommodate children of various ages. With movable furniture, the area can evolve to meet the needs of growing children, supporting both exploration and communication. Brightly colored furniture in shades of yellow, blue, and green adds a playful touch, energizing the space and creating an inspiring and dynamic environment for children to dive into their reading adventures.
03 Classical Charm: Living the Essence of Cultural Elegance
The Rare Book Restoration and Classical Reading Area is furnished with carefully selected traditional Chinese furniture, creating a serene and dignified atmosphere. This space allows readers to immerse themselves in ancient texts while experiencing the rich cultural heritage passed down through the centuries. Comfortable Chinese-style sofas and tea tables provide a refined and relaxing environment for readers to enjoy these timeless works. Wenling Library has evolved beyond a traditional library. It now serves as a space that encourages, inspires, and nurtures a culture of reading. Sunon’s design focuses on enriching the city’s spirit through the knowledge and inspiration found in books.
