In February 2024, Sunon, a leading contract furniture company,
officially commenced operations at its first overseas factory:
Sunon Mexico Manufacturing Base & Experience Center, outside of Monterrey, Mexico. This significant move is the third major initiative of Sunon’s global strategy (following global R&D and localization services) and is an outstanding example of collaboration between China and Mexico.
The Sunon Mexico Manufacturing Base & Experience Center primarily targets the North American market, producing products such as panel furniture, seating, and steel-based items. Besides production, the location also includes research and development, customer service, and testing teams. The goal is to enhance Sunon’s responsiveness and service quality for overseas customers, addressing issues like lengthy export cycles and high costs.
A Benchmark for Green Ecological Zones
As Sunon builds new facilities, eco-friendly and low-carbon construction is a priority. Spanning 202 acres with a building area of 81,600㎡ (878,335 sq ft), the Mexico base utilizes incorporates advanced energy-saving equipment and technologies, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions in the production process.
Localized Production and Supply
The factory has implemented a digitized system, with highly automated production lines to enhance efficiency through intelligent transformations like barcode processing. It is equipped with lines for polyurethane foam, injection molding components, veneer, and steel frame materials, enabling localized production and supply. Simultaneously, it creates numerous employment opportunities in Mexico, promoting the development of the Mexican office furniture industry.
